Roster Role: FD 10am AV Operator

Edit

Specifics for St Alban's 10am:

  • Mics are kept in the cupboard under the music books in the vestry
  • The key for the mic cupboard and the mixer cupboard is kept in the big cupboard second from the left in the vestry, on a nail just inside the cupboard on the left
  • The password for the computer is vespers

It's frequently been demonstrated that congregations who are looking up at a screen sing much louder (and therefore encourage each other much more) than those looking down at a sheet or hymn book. Operating the slideshow is a simple job but doing it well really helps with our corporate singing and other service elements that benefit from visual support.

Time Commitment

  • Before the service: arrive 5 minutes early to meet the lead tech and be ready to start. (Slideshow operators are also welcome to join the up-front contributors to pray for the service 15 minutes before the start time).

What does a win look like?

  • The congregation always sees exactly what they should on the screen.

Keys to winning

  • During songs, advance to the next slide as we start singing the last word on the current slide

  • Make sure you stay focused - sing every word of the songs

  • Remember there are slides for the bible readings and the creed, and sometimes for the sermon or other items.

  • The lead tech should look after playing any videos and recording the sermon – don't let them pass it on to you if you're not comfortable!
